Much of my imagery is drawn from my love of the natural world. I grew up among artists in Santa Fe, which taught me an early appreciation for the Impressionists. I still use their artistic cues to help me create a sense of movement, depth, and color in my work.

Because I am not interested in reproducing what is immediately apparent, but rather discovering what is often overlooked, I sometimes straddle the line between abstraction and representation. By concentrating on natural patterns, like the way certain trees dapple light or pine trees grow in spirals, I am able to omit surplus details and focus on the creative process. Even the most mundane location can become a sacred place when the eye finds beauty there.
